Stanford Jazz Workshop Audio
It’s become a tradition at Stanford Jazz Workshop for SJW’s
Artistic & Executive Director Jim Nadel to record audio interviews
with select faculty during their Jazz Camp or Jazz Residency visit.
These discussions cover a broad range of jazz-related topics, including
the relationship of the soloist to the rhythm section, the interview
subject’s most memorable (and meaningful) experiences as a
listener and a player, the metaphor of music as language and the
definition of jazz itself. So come along as Jim talks to some of
the most respected artists in jazz: pianists Barry Harris & Jason
Moran, bassists Richard Davis & Larry Grenadier and drummer Tootie
Heath, all recorded in 2008.
