Students and Faculty
Stanford Jazz Workshop’s Jazz
Camp and Residency programs
provide the opportunity for students of all ages, abilities and
backgrounds to receive personalized instruction from and interact
with the finest jazz performers and educators in the country. Situated
on the lush grounds of world-renowned Stanford University in the
Braun Music Center, the Workshop is offered during three consecutive
week-long summer sessions (Jazz Camp 1, Jazz Camp 2 and Jazz Residency).
During the day, students participate in an intensive curriculum
of jazz theory, musicianship and master classes, as well as receiving
extensive hands-on experience playing with others in a jazz combo
setting (in which they are placed based upon individual skill).
At night, students are offered private lessons, as well as having
the opportunity to augment their learning by attending concerts
presented as part of the Stanford
Jazz Festival from Sunday through
Thursday.
All of the photos on this page were taken at our 2007 Jazz Camps & Residency
programs, and are an illustration of the camaraderie and mutual
admiration that develops between faculty and participants during
their time together. Many of our students and faculty return year
after year, attesting to the quality of the Stanford Jazz Workshop
experience. |
