Free Concerts and Coho Jams
The famous late night
faculty jam sessions at the Stanford Coffee House
(COHO) are the community's window into the Stanford Jazz Workshop.
Both the SJW community and the general public kick back and enjoy
entertaining jazz jam sessions provided by SJW faculty members.
The jams are always packed with people, and latecomers often
find it's "standing room only." You never know which
jazz legend will pop up to join the fun on stage, making these
exciting and unpredictable sessions ripe for producing
some of the most memorable musical performances of the summer.
The COHO jams have a long history at SJW, and were actually the
first events to take place when the program was founded in 1972.
They have since become a fixture in Stanford's late-night summer
entertainment scene.
COHO jams are free, and part of SJW's efforts to serve members
from the local community through their summer programming. Other
free SJW community events include the Tressider Union noontime
faculty concerts and the "Early Bird" concert series,
designed to introduce children under the age of 11 to jazz in a
family-friendly environment.
