If you want to enhance your understanding of jazz or get inside the
head of a jazz musician, this interactive concert is the place to do
it. Starting with a well-known standard such as “Autumn Leaves” or “Take
the A Train,” SJW’s founder Jim Nadel will lead an ensemble
of top notch players in a tour of different jazz styles including swing,
Latin and hard bop, analyzing the arrangements and highlighting the differences
in approach. The inner workings of how jazz is constructed will be revealed
from the artist’s perspective, as the musicians interact and respond
to each other while commentary is provided in real time. Questions are
encouraged in this lively and education-oriented format, designed to
add value to the listening experience and facilitate a deeper enjoyment
of this rich and complex musical form.
